Announcement concerning the implementation of the quality mark of the Economic Chamber "Polish Waterworks" in Poland
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The investments concerning constructions of water and sewage networks in Poland have been continued or planned. The selection of appropriate materials is a key condition for success and effectiveness of these projects. That is why the Economic Chamber "Polish Waterworks" (IGWP), The Polish Association of Plastic Pipes and Fittings Producers and Dutch Kiwa N.V. jointly, have launched the certification process for materials of plastics, used in network construction. The Board of Experts, organized especially for this purpose, has already approved guidelines for three products:
1. Structured wall 3 layer pipes of PVC-U intended for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage outside buildings. Type A with homogeneous intermediate layer;
2. Solid wall pipes and fittings of PVC-U intended for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage outside buildings ;
3. Plastics fittings of Polypropylene (PP) intended for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage outside buildings.
These directives were placed on the web pages of IGWP, PRiK and KIW in order to gather possible remarks and comments. Since no comments were received, the directives' text was ultimately approved by the Board of Experts.
Apart from pipes and fittings, seals are very important components of water and sewage network systems. For that reason, pipes and fittings producers will be able to obtain the quality mark for their products on condition that they use seals with the quality mark certificate of IGWP. The Board of Experts already approved the directives for evaluation of rubber seals. In the near future the directives for thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) seals are to be approved.
We make a request to all who are interested, especially to seals producers, for evaluation of the directives enclosed below. Please send questions and comments by 30 October, to the address znakjakosci@igwp.org.pl.
After approval of the ultimate content of directives for seals we will start taking applications of producers interested in certification. Subsequently, independent audit of products' quality, production process and acceptance inspection will be carried out and the quality mark will be awarded to products complying with requirements.
Obtaining the quality mark of IGWP means that materials comply with requirements demanded by water and sewage companies which want to assure the reliability of their investments.
