Thematic range:
System standards concerning all fields of application of plastic pipes such as: drainage, sewage, water-supply, central heating, gas and industrial systems as well as methods of testing.

Composition of TC No. 140:
The committee was formed on 26 May 1994 by the President of the Polish Committee for Standardization by the Resolution No.: 5/94.

At present, the technical committee activity is based on the Law on standardization (Journal of Laws No. 169, item 1386 as amended) dated 12 September 2002. This Law determines the organization of standardization and its fundamental rules and aims.
Committee accomplishes these aims by:
- - working out and coordinating the Polish Standards concerning standards of a product and standards of testing of plastic pipes and fittings,
- - preparation of programmes for standardization activities (programme of work of TC 140 for the year 2006),
- - giving opinions on the PN standard drafts upon the motion of other committees,
- - giving opinions on drafts of the European standards as well as international ones (among other things, giving opinions on the standards harmonized with the EC directives),
- - determination of the interpretation of the Polish Standards rules and of other standardization acts,
- - supervision of the PN documentation (among other things, carrying out monitoring of up-to-dateness of the standards),
- - participation in international and regional standardization cooperation.
Members of the Committee take part both in plenary meetings of CEN/TC 155 "Plastics piping systems and ducting systems", as well as they are engaged in activities of working groups of the European Committee for Standardization CEN/TC 155 WG 6 "Systems for soil and waste discharge - PVC-U", WG 7 "System for non-pressure drainage and sewerage - PVC-U (solid wall)", WG 8 "Systems for water supply and pressure drainage and sewerage - PVC-U (solid wall)", WG 13 "Systems with structured-wall pipes for non-pressure drainage and sewerage - PE, PP, PVC-U", WG 16 "Systems for hot and cold water applications" and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) ISO/TC 138 "Plastics pipes, fittings and valves for the transport of fluids". ISO/TC 138/SC 2 "Plastics pipes and fittings for water supplies", ISO/TC 138/SC 5 "General properties of pipes, fittings and valves of plastic materials and their accessories - Test methods and basic specifications", ISO/TC 138/SC 4 "Plastics pipes and fittings for the supply of gaseous fuels" and ISO/TC 138/SC 6 "Reinforced plastics pipes and fittings for all applications".
